- Qatar Tourism launches new Ambassador Programme to connect with Qatar’s entrepreneurs and welcome social dialogues
Qatar Tourism launched a new Ambassador Programme, with a Meet and Greet that took place on January 22, 2024. The programme celebrates pioneers from the local community and aims to provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs, artists, and adventurers of Qatar to share with Qatar Tourism stories of their journeys and collaborate on initiatives. The program also invites to explore ways of collaboration between the two parties in various initiatives undertaken by Qatar Tourism, aiming to increase awareness among residents and visitors about the latest developments in the tourism industry and the products and services it offers. The inaugural session “The Right Arm” took place at the Feeh Al'Aafia restaurant in Katara cultural village, in the presence of His Excellency Mr. Saad bin Ali Al Kharji, the Chairman of Qatar Tourism. The session was attended by distinguished individuals, including editors-in-chief from prominent Qatari newspapers, directors of local television channels, seasoned journalists, and esteemed media professionals in Qatar as well as a cohort of influential social media personalities. Mr. Ayman Al Qudwa, a member of the Tourism and Exhibitions Committee at the Qatar Chamber, pointed out the necessity of launching family packages for tourists coming from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as the Gulf market represents about 40% of visitors to Qatar, which requires providing a qualitative product that meets the aspirations of tourists coming from those countries. He explained that according to figures issued by Qatar Tourism, the country attracted more than four million visitors during 2023, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took the top spot in the number of visitors coming to Qatar, as the number of visitors coming from the Kingdom represented 25.3% of the total number of international visitors, and this Statistics confirm the need to pay attention to the Gulf market. Regarding his vision of how to continue tourism development efforts, Al Qudwa said: Tourism products must be developed, innovation, excellence and diversification in services and events must be promoted, and the requirements and interests of international tourists must be determined, in addition to intensifying marketing and promotion efforts for tourism components and the calendar of events held in the country. He added that the prices of five-star hotels and resorts overlooking the sea are high compared to their counterparts in neighboring countries, which hinders efforts to develop tourism, indicating that hotels located in the center of Doha provide competitive prices for visitors. Regarding the demands to facilitate the granting of visas, Al Qudwa stressed that these demands are illogical, as Qatar provides great facilities through the continuity of the work of the “Haya” platform to unify and facilitate procedures for obtaining a visa for visitors, in addition to exempting citizens of 95 countries around the world from entry visas, stressing the importance of All concerned parties cooperate with Qatar Tourism to provide a unified vision. He explained that Qatar's organization of events and launching promotional campaigns, throughout the year, has greatly contributed to achieving a significant increase in the number of tourists, as the country was able to achieve record numbers.

- Qatar Tourism enhances desert experiences for residents and international visitors
At the beginning of this year’s winter season, Qatar Tourism conducted an inspection campaign on four-wheel drive bike rental offices in Sealine and Ghariyah. The campaign ensures adherence to Law No. (20)/2018 which specifies operating guidelines and standards for vehicles used in tourism experiences. Timed with the start of the winter season, Qatar Tourism conducted the annual inspection in collaboration with the South Security Department in Sealine, the North Security Department in Ghariyah, the General Directorate of Traffic, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME). Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Ali Al Mohannadi, Head of Tourism Control Section at Qatar Tourism, said: "Providing distinctive tourism experiences is one of our top priorities at Qatar Tourism. As desert excursions are a significant part of Qatari culture and are a popular tourism activity, we work closely with the relevant public and private institutions to improve security and safety during the camping season. Attended by local media representatives, the session served as a platform to delve into the collective journey towards achieving a Net Zero Campus, focusing on the challenges ahead and the collaborative efforts required to address them. Held at the Qatar EXPO on November 29 and 30, the 3rd Smart City Expo Doha aligns with Qatar's commitment to smart and sustainable urban development. The event was organized by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and Fira Barcelona International. The media round table brought together key stakeholders from Huawei, UDC, and Qatari Diar to share insights and experiences in creating a sustainable and environmentally conscious Net Zero Campus. - Unified tourist visa for residents, visitors of GCC countries launching soon
Unified tourist visa for the six countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council has been unanimously approved. Residents of the Gulf countries and international tourists will be able to travel between Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain with a single visa. This came in an announcement made by the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi during the 40th meeting of the GCC Interior Ministers in Muscat, Oman. The system is expected to come into effect in 2024-25 across the nations. The Secretary General lauded the new visa describing it as a new achievement and a testament to the close cooperation and sound directives of the GCC leaders. The ministers also launched an electronic system linking traffic violations across the six countries.
