Doha, May 27 (QNA) - FIFA and the Local Organizing Committee for the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 and FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 have launched the registration phase for the FIFA Volunteer Qatar 2025 program, to support the two tournaments scheduled for later this year. This came during an event held to mark the program's launch at the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum, where program organizers met with media and community representatives and invited interested volunteers to submit applications to participate in supporting the two sporting events scheduled for November and December. The program aims to attract 4,000 volunteers to support operational activities in 20 areas, including tournament management, media and fan services, permits, hospitality, and more. CEO of the Local Organizing Committee, Jassim Abdulaziz Al Jassim, emphasized that volunteers represent the beating heart of the major tournaments hosted by Qatar over the past decade, praising their active role, not only in providing operational support, but also as ambassadors of Qatar's rich culture and hospitality through their direct interaction with visitors and fans from around the world. Al Jassim said that the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025 and the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2025 will also rely heavily on volunteer contributions. He emphasized that Qatar plans to continue the strong legacy of volunteerism established during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 and the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023, and expressed enthusiasm for working with volunteers to create outstanding experiences at both upcoming tournaments. He added that he feels personally connected to the volunteer movement, having started his own journey as a volunteer at major sports events. The FIFA Volunteers Qatar 2025 program aims to attract enthusiastic and passionate volunteers to play a pivotal role in enriching the experience of the two tournaments. To apply, volunteers must be residents of Qatar, at least 18 years of age, and fluent in English, with proficiency in other languages, such as Arabic, an added advantage. Volunteers must be willing to participate throughout the duration of the tournament for which they are selected, including attending scheduled training sessions. No prior volunteer experience is required, and they must demonstrate team spirit, initiative, and camaraderie. As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the most vulnerable communities in Syria, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched the first phase of its "Fath Bab Rizq" (Opening the Door to Livelihood) initiative. The program has started with the distribution of 120 financial grants to women who have completed vocational training and submitted viable small business proposals. Each recipient receives a grant worth approximately USD 900, enabling them to launch self-sustaining projects in fields such as tailoring, confectionery, beauty services, and handicrafts. Beneficiaries were carefully selected based on a thorough assessment of their proposals, focusing on readiness, sustainability, and alignment with local market needs. The initiative aims to reach a total of 800 beneficiaries, including 480 widows and 320 displaced youth, through vocational training, business development support, and continuous technical follow-up. The project will ultimately distribute 450 livelihood grants, helping participants create income-generating opportunities and restore dignity and self-reliance. This initiative highlights QRCS’s commitment to socioeconomic empowerment, fostering resilience, and enhancing recovery in conflict-affected communities across Syria. “By investing in the talents and determination of women and youth, we are planting the seeds of hope and sustainable progress,” said a QRCS representative. Qatar Tourism and Visit Qatar marked their participation at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai, one of the world’s leading travel and tourism events in the region, by announcing two major developments on the opening day. Qatar Tourism, in partnership with Celestyal Cruises, announced the dual-ship deployment of the MS Celestyal Journey and the MS Celestyal Discovery for the Winter 2025 cruise season. The announcement was made in the presence of Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar,  Omar Al Jaber, Chief of Tourism Development Sector, Lee Haslett, CCO of Celestyal Cruises. As part of this partnership, the MS Celestyal Journey will operate its cruises across the Arabian Gulf with Doha serving as its main homeport, while the MS Celestyal Discovery will make regular calls at Doha Port as part of its regional itineraries. The Ministry of Interior's Economic and Cyber Crimes Combating Department successfully dismantled a criminal network consisting of 12 individuals of Asian descent who had been targeting communication towers across various areas of Qatar in attempts to send fraudulent SMS messages containing fake links impersonating banks and official government entities. These fraudulent messages aimed to steal personal and financial information of citizens and residents, including credit card data and other sensitive information, by prompting them to click the malicious links and submit their credentials. The Ministry urges the public to exercise caution and not to click on any suspicious links they receive through SMS or messaging applications. It is important to avoid entering or disclosing personal or financial information through such means. The Ministry reiterates its commitment to pursuing those who seek to compromise information security or personal data and will take all necessary legal measures against those proven to be involved in such criminal activities.
