QRCS Empowers Syrian Widows and Displaced Families with Livelihood Grants

As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts to support the most vulnerable communities in Syria, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched the first phase of its "Fath Bab Rizq" (Opening the Door to Livelihood) initiative. The program has started with the distribution of 120 financial grants to women who have completed vocational training and submitted viable small business proposals.

Each recipient receives a grant worth approximately USD 900, enabling them to launch self-sustaining projects in fields such as tailoring, confectionery, beauty services, and handicrafts. Beneficiaries were carefully selected based on a thorough assessment of their proposals, focusing on readiness, sustainability, and alignment with local market needs.

The initiative aims to reach a total of 800 beneficiaries, including 480 widows and 320 displaced youth, through vocational training, business development support, and continuous technical follow-up. The project will ultimately distribute 450 livelihood grants, helping participants create income-generating opportunities and restore dignity and self-reliance.

This initiative highlights QRCS’s commitment to socioeconomic empowerment, fostering resilience, and enhancing recovery in conflict-affected communities across Syria.

“By investing in the talents and determination of women and youth, we are planting the seeds of hope and sustainable progress,” said a QRCS representative.

The project is part of QRCS’s broader vision to support vulnerable populations through capacity-building, economic recovery, and humanitarian innovation, contributing to long-term community development.
