- Ministry to assess teacher competency in three compulsory subjects
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) has announced the start of evaluating teachers in three compulsory subjects: Arabic, Islamic Studies, and Qatari History across all private schools and kindergartens for the 2025–2026 academic year. The initiative aims to: ✔️ Enhance the quality of private education ✔️ Improve student learning outcomes ✔️ Ensure unified national standards in core subjects ✔️ Strengthen teaching performance and educational practices This step forms part of Qatar’s commitment to In a statement, the MoEHE said that this strategic step aims to enhance the quality of private education and improve learning outcomes in core national subjects, noting that the project establishes a unified professional framework to ensure the implementation of compulsory curricula according to clear standards, in a way that contributes to improved teaching performance and the promotion of effective educational practices. This, in turn, enables the continuous development of the learning environment in private schools. The MoEHE added that the project will be implemented through an official circular regarding the use of the electronic form, the organisation of introductory workshops for schools, and performance monitoring through periodic reports and feedback collection to ensure continuous improvement. It added that the assessment results will serve as a primary reference for professional competency reports and professional development programs for teachers. It pointed out that this project represents a qualitative leap in the private education system, embodying Qatar’s commitment to raising the quality of education and empowering teachers. Assistant Undersecretary for Private Education Affairs Omar Abdulaziz Al Naama affirmed that teachers are the cornerstone of the educational process. Without teachers, no educational system can thrive or progress, he noted, saying that the project aims to support teachers and develop their professional performance. He also pointed out that it is a developmental tool designed to enhance teachers’ capabilities and improve their teaching practices, reiterating his thanks and appreciation to teachers as partners in the success of education and the shaping of the future. Director of the Private Schools and Kindergartens Department and Acting Director of the Private Schools Licensing Department Dr. Rania Mohammed stated that the evaluation criteria are based on official classroom visits and student performance results, with a sizable portion of the evaluation weight dedicated to student success to support the quality of educational outcomes.
- Qatar–Bahrain ferry now open to non-GCC nationals — book via MASAR
The Qatar Bahrain ferry, launched on 6 November 2025, is now available for non-GCC nationalities as per the service booking app, MASAR. The service was initially available only for passengers from the GCC countries. The passenger-only ferry direct route, spanning nearly 35 nautical miles (approximately 65 km), connects Al-Ruwais Port in northern Qatar with Sa’ada Marina in Bahrain. The newly introduced ferry service will connect Al-Ruwais Port to Sa’ada Marina, with a travel time of 70-80 minutes. Passengers can book their trips through the MASAR app. The initial trips are scheduled from 7 to 12 November 2025, featuring two round-trips each day—one in the morning and one in the evening. This will increase to three round-trips daily from 13 to 22 November 2025, with the possibility of adding more trips based on demand and passenger numbers. Passengers can choose between standard and VIP vessels, which accommodate up to 28 and 32 passengers, respectively, providing modern and comfortable hospitality services onboard. All voyages will adhere to the security and customs regulations of both countries to ensure the safety of passengers. This project marks a significant advancement in the GCC’s maritime transportation, reflecting both nations’ dedication to enhancing regional integration and facilitating the movement of people, thereby aligning with the GCC’s vision for a unified, secure, and sustainable transportation network. Doha, Qatar – November 3, 2025: In preparation for the World Summit for Social Development, which the State of Qatar will host from November 4 to 6, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has announced a series of temporary road closures to ensure the safe and smooth movement of official delegations. The closures will be in effect on Tuesday, November 4, from 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM, covering several key routes in Doha. According to the MoI, the affected roads include: Exit from Hamad International Airport Road via Ras Bu Abboud Road up to Al Sharq Interchange. Exit from Airport Park Street on C-Ring Road up to Al Sharq Interchange. Corniche Road from Al Sharq Intersection up to National Theatre Interchange. Mohammed bin Thani Street from National Theatre Intersection up to Wadi Al Sail Interchange. Al Bidaa Street from Wadi Al Sail Intersection up to Al Maha Interchange.
