  • Electric air taxi & delivery planes to be tested in early 2025 in Qatar

The Ministry of Transport announces it has put plans to test the services of the electric air taxi and electric delivery planes in the early 2025, as the Ministry continues implementing its strategies that aim for developing and operating an integrated mobility ecosystem in Qatar. The Ministry has applied for all the necessary approvals and coordination matters with the Qatari bodies concerned, to go ahead with such test runs. • Qatar's Inland Sea chosen among the 'Top 100 Beaches in the World'

The Golden Beach Award 2024 recognizes Qatar's Inland Sea as the 89th-best beach globally!! BeachAtlas, a London-based website specializing in global beaches, presented a list of the world's best beaches, showcasing destinations with unparalleled natural beauty, vibrant lifestyles, inclusive atmospheres, strong community ties, and rich cultural heritage. However, this year BeachAtlas has broadened its criteria. Beyond the classic beauty, they ve considered factors like natural diversity, local community value, cultural significance, and DEI (Diversity, Equality, Inclusion), recognising beaches where visitors feel represented and comfortable, regardless of background, identity, and abilities. "This is the first selection ever to expand and encompass diverse criteria ... to shine a light on those beach gems that typically don't make it onto traditional, unidimensional 'best beach' lists," the company said on its website. Using a unique algorithm, BeachAtlas shortlisted 100 beaches based on the new criteria. Travel experts, influencers, photographers, bloggers, and journalists from around the world then voted, adding their personal insights to refine the list and rank the Golden Beach Award 2024 Top 100 Beaches in the World. As per the survey, the Inland Sea (Khor Al Udaid) ranked as the 89th best beach in the world this year. Located in the southeast part of Qatar, the Inland Sea beach is "uniquely nestled between desert dunes and ocean waves, creating a remarkable ecosystem. This spot is not just a beach; it's a fusion of natural wonders and a peek into the past, rich with fossils along its shores." This recognition highlights Khor Al Udaid's breathtaking natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. On Visit Qatar's website, a traveler described the Inland Sea beach as "one of the most unusual yet attractive destinations imaginable. The pristine sea and ever-changing sands make visits totally memorable." Visitors to the Inland Sea can witness a rare meeting of sand dunes and the sea. According to Visit Qatar, this unique cycle brings in a variety of fish, crustaceans, and turtles. Flamingos, migrating ducks, Arabian Oryx, and gazelles can also be spotted. "The sea recedes in the evening and the beach becomes deserted again, while dunes magically change colour under golden sunsets," it added. Qatar's Inland Sea ranked behind UAE's JBR Beach (8th place) and Saudi Arabia's Umluj Beach (41st), making it the third-best beach in the Middle East and the Arab region. Bora Bora in French Polynesia topped this year's list of best beaches, followed by Boulders in South Africa, Waikiki in the USA, and Copacabana in Brazil. Thailand's Maya Bay, Black Sand Beach in Iceland, Glass Beach in the USA, JBR Beach in the United Arab Emirates, Skeleton Coast in Namibia and Omaha Beach in France claimed the 5th to 10th spots, respectively. Other beaches in Asia that made it to the top 100 list include Thailand's Pattaya Beach (12th), Indonesia's Kelingking Beach (34th), Indias Baga Beach (35th), Japan's Okinawa Beach (36th), Philippines' Hidden Beach in Palawan (37th), South Korea's Haeundae Beach in Busan (55th), Philippines' Nacpan Beach in Palawan (65th), Thailand's Railay Beach West (66th), and Singapore's Siloso Beach in Sentosa Island (91st).

  • GCC's 'Grand Tours visa' in effect by the end of the year, as free pass for Gulf residents

The ‘Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Grand Tours visa’ will function as a multi-entry visa, permitting travellers to move freely among the six GCC countries: Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain. The travellers will be able to travel seamlessly, and will have the freedom to spend a period of over 30 days in the countries included in the visa. The system will be put into place by the end of the year as government efforts are ongoing to secure ties and prepare the financial infrastructure for the convenience of travellers. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa of UAE’s Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Authority (SCTDA) made this announcement at the Arabian Travel Market on Monday. He said during the opening that: “By the end of this year, the whole system will be in place. (We) are working day and night and e-service is a vital part of it. We don’t want to complicate things for people and also maintain the same security level. It will be a very good initiative and we will see a positive outcome for regional economies.” Visa-free seamless travel between the Gulf countries has already been under place for citizens of GCC countries, however, this new GCC Grand Tours visa will function as a free pass between borders for expats living inside the countries as well, further increasing the freedom of travel and boosting tourism and economies of the GCC nations. UAE’s Minister of Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri was quoted in UAE media as having said that: “this will make travel to our region more convenient and affordable for tourists.” Previously at the World Economic Forum held in Riyadh on April 28 and 29, he stated: “Once it comes into effect, it will contribute to highlighting the diverse tourism destinations in GCC countries, attracting and retaining tourists for longer periods, thus increasing the number of hotel bookings and making the region one of the leading destinations for regional and international tourists alike.” Gulf countries are working with large tourists operations worldwide to further increase the cooperation in the economy and tourism sectors. #Amazing_Qatar #Amazing_Qatar_news #Amazing_Qatar_team #qatar2024 #qatarinstagram #dohaqatar #seeqatar #Doha #Qatar

  • Launching packages for Gulf families!

Mr. Ayman Al Qudwa, a member of the Tourism and Exhibitions Committee at the Qatar Chamber, pointed out the necessity of launching family packages for tourists coming from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, as the Gulf market represents about 40% of visitors to Qatar, which requires providing a qualitative product that meets the aspirations of tourists coming from those countries. He explained that according to figures issued by Qatar Tourism, the country attracted more than four million visitors during 2023, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia took the top spot in the number of visitors coming to Qatar, as the number of visitors coming from the Kingdom represented 25.3% of the total number of international visitors, and this Statistics confirm the need to pay attention to the Gulf market. Regarding his vision of how to continue tourism development efforts, Al Qudwa said: Tourism products must be developed, innovation, excellence and diversification in services and events must be promoted, and the requirements and interests of international tourists must be determined, in addition to intensifying marketing and promotion efforts for tourism components and the calendar of events held in the country. He added that the prices of five-star hotels and resorts overlooking the sea are high compared to their counterparts in neighboring countries, which hinders efforts to develop tourism, indicating that hotels located in the center of Doha provide competitive prices for visitors. Regarding the demands to facilitate the granting of visas, Al Qudwa stressed that these demands are illogical, as Qatar provides great facilities through the continuity of the work of the “Haya” platform to unify and facilitate procedures for obtaining a visa for visitors, in addition to exempting citizens of 95 countries around the world from entry visas, stressing the importance of All concerned parties cooperate with Qatar Tourism to provide a unified vision. He explained that Qatar's organization of events and launching promotional campaigns, throughout the year, has greatly contributed to achieving a significant increase in the number of tourists, as the country was able to achieve record numbers.
