His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, inaugurated the Bloomberg-powered Qatar Economic Forum (QEF) 2023, under the slogan “A New Global Growth Story”.
His Highness attended the opening dialogue session with His Excellency Paul Kagame, the president of the Republic of Rwanda, and another panel discussion titled “The New Energy Paradigm”.
In an opening speech, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the Qatari economy’s resilience.
He mentioned that the nation had many successes including the ability to maintain highly competitive rates despite international crises, and the sturdiness of the health system in the face of COVID-19. Both things were not a coincidence, rather the result of visionary leadership and numerous years of planning and determination.
His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs also mentioned that after hosting one of the best editions of the FIFA World Cup, Qatar cemented its global status as a reliable international partner, energy exporter and coveted destination for investment and tourism—all of which align with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
His Excellency the Prime Minister also talked about Qatar’s efforts to diversify energy supplies, citing the country’s first solar power plant, which provides up to 10 percent of Qatar Electricity Grid. His Excellency also stressed Qatar’s commitment to ensure stable energy supplies within the global market considering international crises.
Furthermore, His Excellency the Prime Minister emphasised that the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) contributes significantly to achieving economic stability for future generations by collaborating with the private sector to bridge gaps in the local market, adding that Qatar is keen to attract high-quality investments.
Finally, His Excellency the Prime Minister explained that the QEF is an invaluable platform for having dialogues and creating partnerships that enhance opportunities towards economic transformation for a more prosperous and inclusive world.
